Passing UCB 201 and other yummy valentines surprises!

Valentines Day this year had some great news! I passed my UCB 201 Class and booked a USC Film! Even better I'll be auditioning for a promo for ABC today. So much good. I'm hoping this streak continues. Nah I know it will! 2012 is becoming a great year for me. Its about being open to all opportunities. I'm not going to be my own worse enemy or let others hinder the life I want either. So this year is about saving the drama for the screen, and working hard to get the things I want. And so far its been pretty good! More coming soon in the realm of Anastasia!

Hey peeps! Just wanted to update you on all the happenings that have been happening? Just updating cyber space on the many happenings of Anastasia. I am currently at UCB in their 201 class. Our Graduation show is approaching at lightening speed! So if you aren't a football fan be sure to check out all the funny at UCB on Feb. 5th @noon! It'll be a blast! Also I am producing two amazing projects with an amazing bunch of people, our company is called ...of Doom Productions. And we are also producing some great graphic novels in the coming months. Also great news I'm with a modelling agency officially now! Thanks alot to a certain someone out there ;)you know who you are! And now I'm a fit model with Rage Models! This year is having its bumps but its also having big bouts of progress!! So I'll keep you updated on the latest!!!

My first UCB Improv course is coming to an end very soon. And that means my final is too! On December 3rd @ Noon at the UCB Theatre in Hollywood! $5 cash at the door. Its been a great journey and I can't wait to continue on this crazy comedy journey! Hope to see you all there!

Update! First Week of November!

Hey everyone. Just posting to update you all on what you'll be seeing from me this month. This month I am preparing for two comedy shows in december. My first UCB Improv show, and my first Stand-up show as well! And I have to say UCB is my new drug. Even when Im having the worst day, going to class or seeing a show at UCB just makes everything better! As for other areas of life. Next week I'll be filming a sketch comedy pilot, which I am super stoked about doing! And in a couple of weeks I'll be filming my reel! Which is also exciting! More updates on projects coming soon!

Sight Singing Hear I come!

Yesterday I took my first sight singing class. An opportunity made possible through AFTRA. Located in AFTRA offices a group of about 20 professional singers gathered around and began learning a skill that had always eluded us. It felt good to hear how many people were like me. Making a living singing, had taken music theory classes, some even played instruments. But when someone asked them and obviously me to sight sing, it was like our minds were wiped clean. I'm glad I'm taking this class. I mean I know the tools to do this are in my mind, but this class will give me the confidence to go in to any audition. I think after this class ill be finding a ukele class and piano class. I'm tired of being only able to rely on others for my music. Its time for me to take charge of my own music destiny! I remember watching Upright on their sketch comedy show and laughing my kiester off. Their comedy was just doen my alley. And now I find myself at their school. Last night was my first class. And though I have taken many an improv class and plan to go back all kinds of improv school, this one sang to me. I look forward to the coming weeks. Last night was great! I'm begining to warm up again, and gain my confidence back. And one scene I believe was pretty darn good, I got great feedback. So that's my update on my comedy journey. More to come! In the meantime mark the date December 3rd at noon is my first UCB show!

Big Changes!

I've decided I'm funny. Or at least people seem to think I am. So my new big changes is making a bigger leap into the area of comedy. I just signed up for humor writing, stand-up comedy, dialect training, as well as Improv with UCB. I'm also trying to make some leaps in music and writing, more coming I promise. But for sure I'll be performing at UCB on Decemeber 3rd at 12 (noon). Not sure my stand-up date yet but I'll be sure to update!

Clouds in my sky

Its been a tough few weeks for me. After my Father, James Ethan Washington got married, less than a week later, while on his honeymoon he passed away. He will be missed immensely, and I am still getting over the shock of losing such a great man in my life.

I will always love him and remember the good times we shared. Always supportive in his way. He was proud of my Artistic nature. And I will take comfort in knowing that now in heaven he will be forced to see all my performances. Miss you, Love you always. My Papa.

USC film booked!

This week was a great week for me. And though I am anxiously waiting to hear back from one of the auditions I have had this week. I have already booked a USC student film which is filming this weekend. Its these small victories that are really helping me to see my goals. This current project will add something to my reel, and that is one of my current goals. To complete my acting and singing reels in the coming months so that I will be well armed to take the next step in my career. Finding a manager and agent that will take me to the next level. So good things are happening. Fingers crossed about the SAG Web series!!!

Resume Dilemma...solved!!!

Ok so I was freaking out because I noticed my hanging resume looked just sad, attached to the back of my headshot! Some people seem to have it all together. They have it perfectly cut. Which, by the way I have tried to do myself and it was just sad. So I decided to start googling. I was really looking for a 8x10 label, which I have concluded doesn't exist. But while searching I found a website called www.actorpaper.com They actually have paper cut to 8x10. One problem solved, now if someone would just make a 8x10 label I really would be happy!!!!

Its funny. I was so moppy last year. Thinking nobody cares about me as a Performer, and now I'm getting the validation I was begging for, and yet it makes me nervous. I guess the human mind is never happy. But I am auditioning more! Hooray! And get involved in more things, which is great! Having problems sometimes juggling it all. But thats just adjusting.

Cover letter rage/ Elevator Speech

So I was so anti- cover letter, believing that no one really cares. Despite people telling me that casting directors and agents cared. So now I spend the first half of the morning writing cover letters. I hate it. Even though I know its important. I try to inject some relevance to the person I'm writing into a generic cover letter that I wrote. But still its a menial task.

I am reading a lot of acting books to launch my career full speed. One of the tactics discussed is to have a 15 second elevator speech about you ready, just for those moments when people at auditions or just out networking ask what you are about. Even though this seems like a task that should be simple. I find it hard to come up with. After all, who we are and what we stand for is far too complex to describe in 15 seconds. Plus what might be relevant to one person , could be completely annoying to another. And there in lies the rub.

Anyway any suggestions or comments would be helpful....

So I am sending out submissions for various theatre organizations to attach myself to. As I continue to do research I find myself amazed at the number and variety of theatre we have in Los Angeles. Who says theatre isn't alive and well in Los Angeles. We have everything. A number of purely Classical Companies, Experimental theatre, Theatre's that focus on empowering women in roles of strength. I was born and raised in Los Angeles. And I have always gone to the theatre. Since the age of 6 when I saw my first Adult musical, Fiddler on the Roof. So if anyone out there doubts that Los Angeles is central to Theatre, Culture and Education in the Entertainment fields. I would say do a little research, look a little closer. And you will find you'll be in impressed in my hometown.
